Mohammad Shami may make a comeback from Champions Trophy: Video posted and wrote- Seen bowling, ready to take on the world

Fast bowler Mohammad Shami can make a comeback in the Indian team after the Champions Trophy. He gave his fitness update in a video post on Tuesday. In the 27 second video, Shami was seen bowling with full strength.

The 34-year-old bowler wrote in his post- 'Accuracy, speed and passion… ready to take on the world!' Shami is out of Team India from ODI World Cup 2023. He was not selected in the Indian squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) due to not being fully fit, although he bounced back with performances in the Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare Trophy.

2 things that indicate Shami's comeback

1. Strong performance in domestic cricket Shami returned from injury in Bengal's match against Madhya Pradesh in Round-1 of the Ranji Trophy. He had impressive performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali (T20) and Vijay Hazare Trophy (ODI), raising hopes of his comeback in the Indian team.

2. Shastri-Ponting said – If Shami had played, India would have had an upper hand Former Indian coach Ravi Shastri and former Australian captain Ricky Ponting said in the ICC review – 'If Mohammed Shami had been included in the squad for the last round of the 5-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India would have had the upper hand. Both also questioned his injury management system. In such a situation the selectors have to think about Shami.

He was last seen playing for India in the ODI World Cup final Mohammad Shami played his last international match a year ago on 19 November 2023. It was the final match of the ODI World Cup. Shami took one wicket in that match. In that match, the Indian team had to face a crushing defeat by 6 wickets.

Mohammad Shami gave Australia the first blow in the final of ODI World Cup 2023. He had David Warner (7 runs) caught by Kohli.

Shami underwent ankle surgery in England in January-2024. For the past several months, Shami has been in a rehab camp at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
