Former Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath has advised the Australian players to put pressure on Virat Kohli. The 54-year-old veteran cricketer said, 'Kohli, who is out of form, will be under pressure from a bad start. Kangaroos should target him. After the loss against New Zealand, Australia now have a lot of ammunition against them.'
India's Australia tour will start from November 22. The first match will be played in Perth. Team India has to play a 5 test match series there and this series is important in view of the World Test Championship. India need to win 4 out of 5 matches to reach the final on their own.
Kohli did not play well in the New Zealand series
“Put pressure on Kohli and see if he's up for it,” McGrath told Australian media house Fox Cricket.
Kohli, who has been leading Indian batting for more than a decade, is struggling with poor form, Fox said. His average in 6 matches this year has been 22.72. Even in the New Zealand Test series, Kohli could not do anything special. Continued to struggle with poor form.
Now Shubman Gill, who was injured before the series in Australia, has been ruled out of the first Test. It is not yet clear whether captain Rohit Sharma will play the first Test or not. Kohli will be under pressure to lead the batting lineup.
McGrath's warning: Over-aggressiveness can backfire McGrath has also warned his players that targeting Kohli more aggressively could also backfire. It is possible that Kohli will come out of the pressure and stand up, stand firm. Because Kohli is a player whose form is deteriorating. But if he stands firm, he will stand firm later.
Let us tell you that Kohli has scored runs at an average of 54.08 in the last four tours of Australia.
