Jai Shah becomes the fifth Indian Chief of ICC.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has taken over as the ICC president on Sunday. His tenure has started today from December 1. 36-year-old Jay Shah, who succeeded Greg Barclay, has become the youngest ICC president.
Jai Shah said – “Thank you everyone for electing me as the ICC President. I will continue to work to promote cricket globally. It is important to promote multiple formats of cricket now. I will try to bring in new technology. The game, along with events like the World Cup, are important.” But will take it to the global market.”
The inclusion of cricket in the Olympics in 2028 is a major achievement. We will give it global recognition from the Olympics and try to take it to more countries.

Jai Shah became the fifth Indian Chief of ICC Before Jai Shah, 4 Indians have held the post of ICC Chief. Jagmohan Dalmiya was the ICC chief from 1997 to 2000, Sharad Pawar from 2010 to 2012, N Srinivasan from 2014 to 2015 and Shashank Manohar from 2015 to 2020. Before 2015, the ICC chief was called the president. Now he is called Chairman.
Jai Shah became the youngest chairman Jai Shah has turned 36 on September 22 this year. He took over as ICC President on 1 December at the age of 36. He became the 16th President of ICC. All the 15 chairmen before him were above 55 years of age. Jay Shah was preceded by Percy Son of South Africa who became the president in 2006 at the age of 56. Jay Shah, 20 years his junior, has now become the youngest ICC president at the age of 36.
Barclay's term ended on 30 November New Zealand's ICC president Greg Barclay's term ends on November 30. The ICC said on 20 August that Barclay would not serve as chairman for a third consecutive term. He was on this post since 2020.
Jai Shah was elected unopposed for the post of ICC President. The last date for filing nominations was Tuesday, August 27. No candidate filed for this post except Jai.
