India's net no to play Pakistan for Champions Trophy: BCCI expresses security concerns, team wants to play match in Dubai

The Indian team will not travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy cricket tournament next year. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently sent a letter to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) citing security concerns behind its decision. The board has expressed its desire to play all its matches in Dubai.

According to Indian Express reports, a source related to the matter said, “This is our decision. We have written to PCB and asked them to hold our match in Dubai.

The Champions Trophy draft will be played from February 19 to March 9 next year as per the schedule. Matches of this event can be held in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi.

India has not visited Pakistan for 16 years due to the terrorist attack in Mumbai The Indian team has not toured Pakistan since 2007-08. After the terrorist attack on Mumbai in 2008, the Indian government refused to play cricket in Pakistan. Since then both teams play only in ICC and ACC tournaments. Since 2013, both teams have played 13 ODIs and 8 T20 matches at neutral venues.

Group-B consists of Australia, South Africa, England and Afghanistan.

According to the schedule, India's three matches are scheduled to be played on February 20 (vs. Bangladesh), February 23 (vs. Pakistan) and March 2 (vs. New Zealand). All India matches can be played in Lahore.

Asia Cup was hosted by Pakistan, India's match was held in Sri Lanka Last year, Pakistan got the right to host the Asia Cup. Even then India refused to play in Pakistan. After this the tournament was held on 'hybrid model'. The match against India was held in Sri Lanka. In the final match played in Colombo, the Indian team won the championship by defeating Sri Lanka by 10 wickets.
