Mohammad Shami came to practice in Kolkata with a bandage on his left knee. Shami has been included in Team India for the home T-20 series against England. He has returned to international cricket after a long gap of 14 months.
He played the final match against Australia on 19 November in the 2023 ODI World Cup held in India. Since then he has been sidelined from international cricket due to injury.
The first match of the series against England will be played on January 22 in Kolkata.

Shami bowled for more than an hour Before the opening match against England, the Indian team practiced for three hours in Kolkata on Sunday. Shami bowled in perfect rhythm for over an hour.
He bandaged his left knee and bowled slowly under the supervision of bowling coach Morne Morkel, initially with short run-ups and then with full run-ups and increased pace. He also took part in fielding practice after bowling for about an hour. He troubled young batsmen like Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Verma with his pace and line length.
