India's challenge at the India Open Badminton 2025 ended on Saturday after a series of disappointments. Satwik Sairaj and Chirag Shetty were defeated by Malaysia's SF Goh and N Ezzudin in straight games in the semi-finals.
PV Sindhu lost in the women's singles and Kiran George in the men's singles on Friday at the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall in New Delhi. The final of the tournament will be played on Sunday. There will be no challenge from India in any category.
Satvik-Chirag lost in straight games The Indian pair lost the first game 18-21 to the Malaysian pair of SF Goh and N Izudin. Both lost the second game 14–21 and the semi-final was won by the Malaysian pair. In the final, the Malaysian players will face the pair of South Korea's H Kim and SJ Seo. The duo defeated another Malaysian pair in straight games in the semi-finals.
Satwik-Chirag defeated Malaysia's Man Wei Chong and Kai Wun Ti 23-21, 19-21, 21-16 in the first round. The Indian pair defeated Japan's Kenyan Mitsuhashi and Hiroki Okamura 20-22, 21-14, 21-16 in the second round. Then in the quarter finals, both of them defeated South Korea's Jin Yong and Kang Min Hyuk 21-10, 21-17.
The pair of Satwik and Chirag have won the India Open title in 2022.
South Korea and Japan in women's doubles final Japan's A Higashino and A Sakuramoto will face South Korea's HY Kong and HJ Kim in the women's doubles final on Sunday. The South Korean pair defeated the Malaysian pair in straight games. While the Japanese pair took 3 games to defeat the Chinese pair.
An Se Young reached the final of the women's singles In the women's singles final, South Korea's An Se Young will face Thailand's Pi Chochuwong. In the semifinals, Chochuwong defeated Japan's T Miyazaki in 3 games. While Young defeated Indonesian GM Tunjung in 2 games.
South Korea's Ahn Se Young eliminated Tunjung after losing both games in the semifinals.
Mixed doubles final between France and China In mixed doubles, France's Thom Giclee and Delphine Delrue will face China's JB Jiang and YX Wei. The French pair defeated the Malaysian pair in straight games in the semi-finals. The Chinese pair also defeated the Malaysian players, but it took them 3 games to do so.
