Hyderabad likely to retain Klassen, Cummins and Abhishek: Head-Nitish likely to remain; IPL Retention Deadline October 31

South African Henrik Klaasen tops Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) retention list for IPL 2025. According to Cricinfo, Clausen will be retained as the first player for Rs 23 crore. Current runner-up SRH will retain Australian all-rounder and franchise captain Pat Cummins as second player (for Rs 18 crore) and Indian all-rounder Abhishek Sharma as third player (for Rs 14 crore).

According to Cricinfo, SRH may also retain Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy. The deadline for IPL retention is 31st October. The auction for the next season is scheduled to be held later this year.

Cummins will continue to captain the team in 2025 Hyderabad bought Pat Cummins for Rs 20.50 crore last season. He is the second most expensive player in IPL history. Under the leadership of Cummins, Hyderabad reached the final last year. But this time the team will spend the most money on Klaassen. Cummins will continue to captain the team in 2025.

New Retention Rule of IPL Now the franchise team will be able to retain 6 players before the IPL mega auction. In which maximum 5 international and 2 uncapped players can be included. An international player can be from any country, but an uncapped player must be from India only.

Suppose, Mumbai Indians retain 5 international players, then the team can now retain only one uncapped player as the sixth player. When a team retains 4 international players, they will have the option to retain 2 uncapped players.

79 crores can retain 6 players The purse limit of the IPL team has also been increased to Rs 120 crore, which was earlier Rs 100 crore. 18 crores will be spent on retaining the first player, Rs 14 crores on the second player and Rs 11 crores on the third player. If only 3 players are retained then the purse will cost Rs 43 crore.

If the team retains the fourth player, it will have to pay only Rs 18 crore. And for the fifth player will have to spend 14 crore rupees. Retaining an uncapped player will cost only Rs 4 crore each. The last date for submission of player retention is 31 October 2024 by 5 PM.

If the team retains 5 internationals and one uncapped player, it will cost Rs 79 crore from their purse. If the team retains 4 internationals and 2 uncapped players, the purse will cost Rs 69 crore. If only 5 international players are retained then the purse will cost Rs 75 crore. The team can choose between five capped players at their choice of Rs. 75 crore capped retention pot is allowed to be distributed.
