Greg Chappell calls Hayden the best batsman in the world: Says – Hayden spoiled Bumrah's rhythm, his ability is special

Veteran cricketer Greg Chappell has termed Travis Head as the best batsman in the world right now. He said- Head's performance against Jasprit Bumrah in BGT is an example of his fearless approach and Australian formula of batting.

Former Australia captain Chappell believes that the reason behind Head's success as a Test batsman is his instinct and aggression. Head scored 409 runs in the first 3 Test matches against India with the help of two centuries and a half-century. He is the top scorer of the series.

Chappell wrote in his column in the Sydney Morning Herald…

Head's performance against Bumrah at present is an example of his fearless approach. While other batsmen struggled against Bumrah's unorthodox action, pace and consistently accurate bowling, Head took to him like no other bowler. Head tackled Bumrah with strong intent and tried to score runs against him, not only reducing his threat but also disrupting his rhythm. His ability to play short pitched balls and full length balls is exceptional, which shows his progress.

Highlights from the Chapel column…

  • Chappell wrote – 'From a raw, unpredictable talent to one of the most influential men's batsmen in world cricket, Travis Head has reached his peak. His journey is not limited to meeting challenges, but also maintaining the simplicity of his style that has become his signature.'
  • Chappell believes that Head is one of the most dangerous batsmen in the world, who can dictate his tactics against the best bowlers. The essence of Head's batting lies in his well-organized mind. He has chosen a path that prioritizes intention over caution. A mindset that drives him to face every ball with the goal of scoring runs.'
  • Chappell wrote – 'Travis in his current form exemplifies the way Australia bat. The way his performance is being discussed now. It goes without saying that Travis Head is the best batsman in the world.'
