First Test cricketer to bat at number 12 retired: Brawl with Joe Root cost; Shannon Gabriel of West Indies took retirement

West Indies fast bowler Shannon Gabriel has retired from international cricket. Gabriel announced his decision late on Wednesday, August 28. With this he ended his 12-year long cricket career. He announced his retirement on social media. Gabriel thanked all those who supported him, including his family and coaches, for his brilliant career. He has written an emotional post. In which he said that 'playing at the highest level brings him immense joy, but all good things come to an end.' This West Indies fast bowler also has a strange record in his name. Cricket is usually batted at number 11, but Gabriel is the first Test cricketer in the world to bat at number 12. Clashes with Root proved costly Shannon Gabriel got into trouble during a Test match during England's tour of the West Indies in 2019. He used some offensive words during the match, which cost him dearly. In fact, Joe Root batted brilliantly in this match played in St. Lucia. It was difficult to get him out. Gabriel then sledged her, “Why are you laughing so much, do you like boys?” Joe Root replied to Gabriel, “There is nothing defamatory about it. After this he made his T20 debut in 2013 and ODI debut in 2016. Gabriel took 122 wickets in 59 Test matches, 33 wickets in 25 ODIs and 3 wickets in 2 T20 Internationals.
