Bumrah becomes vice-captain of Test team: Indian squad announced for home series against New Zealand, Shami still unfit

The 15-member Indian squad has been announced for the Test series against New Zealand starting on October 16. Apart from this, four traveling reserves have also been kept. Jasprit Bumrah has been made the vice-captain. No vice-captain has been selected for the Indian team for the two-match series against Bangladesh. It is believed that BCCI is eyeing Bumrah as the future captain of the Test team after Rohit Sharma.

The team's fast bowler Mohammad Shami is still not fully fit. He did not make the squad, with Shami recovering from an ankle injury, for which he underwent surgery earlier this year. He is out of the 2023 ODI World Cup final due to injury. Fast bowler Yash Dayal is out due to injury. He was in the Indian team for the Bangladesh series.
