Veteran West Indies cricketer Dwayne Bravo has announced his retirement from all formats of cricket. T-20 all-time highest wicket-taker Bravo wrote in an Insta post on Thursday night– 'My mind wants to play, but my body is not supporting me. I don't want to put myself in a position to let my teammates, fans and team down. Therefore, it is with a full heart that I announce my retirement.'
The 40-year-old cricketer said before the season that this would be his last season, but injury forced him to announce his retirement midway through the Caribbean Premier League. Bravo bid farewell to IPL last year. He has taken 631 wickets in 582 T-20 matches. He is the highest wicket taker in this format.
Bravo's post, wrote- 'I was able to achieve my dreams because I always gave 100%' The all-time highest wicket-taker in T20s wrote in an Insta post on Thursday night – '21 years as a professional cricketer – it's been an amazing journey, with many ups and downs.' He wrote- 'The most important thing is that I was able to fulfill my dreams because I always gave my 100%, although I want to continue it, but now it's time to face reality.'
Said goodbye to international cricket in 2021 Bravo retired from international cricket 3 years ago in 2021, but continues to coach alongside playing franchise cricket. Bravo worked with IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings for the past 12 months. He was also made Afghanistan's bowling consultant for the T20 World Cup 2024.
Win CPL, IPL, PSL and Big Bash League Bravo has won franchise tournaments like Caribbean Premier League, Indian Premier League, Pakistan Super League and Big Bash with various teams in his 18-year long T20 career. Not only this, he has also won T-20 World Cup twice with West Indies.
Bravo won the ILT20 title with MI Emirates this year.
