Matthew Wade has announced his retirement from international cricket ahead of the Indian team's tour of Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. 8 months ago in March this year, he announced his retirement from first class i.e. red ball cricket after playing the final of the Sheffield Shield.
Matthew Wade played his last international match for Australia in this year's T20 World Cup against India. He will start his coaching career after retiring from international cricket. He has been included in the coaching staff for the home T20 series against Pakistan. He will hold the role of wicketkeeping and fielding coach.
Wade announced his retirement in a chat with cricket.com.au.
Played for Australia in all three formats Wade played 36 Tests, 97 One-Day Internationals and 92 T20 Internationals for Australia in his 13-year career.
Wade coached the home team Wade is coaching Tasmania's youth and second XI teams. Australia Team High Performance and Executive General Manager Ben Oliver congratulated Matthew Wade on his international career and said that we look forward to Matthew's experience in coaching.
No place in Test and ODI squads from 2021 36-year-old Matthew Wade made his debut for Australia in 2011. Wicketkeeper Better Wade has not got a chance to play in ODIs and Tests since 2021. He was one of the heroes of Australia's victory in the 2021 T20 World Cup. In the semi-final match against Pakistan, he hit three sixes against Shahin Afridi to take Australia to the final.
Matthew Wade played his last Test match against India on 15 January 2021 at the Gabba.

This year he played 2 matches for Gujarat Titans. In the 15 matches played so far in the IPL, he has scored 183 runs at a strike rate of 103.39. Behind the wicket he caught 8 matches and stumped 2 players.
