Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ajay Ratra has been made a member of Team India's selection committee. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informed about his inclusion in the committee. Salil will replace Ankol in the night committee. Ajay Ratra has played 6 Tests and 12 ODIs for India. He scored 4029 runs in 99 first class matches while playing domestic cricket for Haryana. Ratra has been the coach of Assam and Punjab Ajay Ratra has been the head coach of Assam, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket. Ratra went with Team India to play the ODI series in South Africa in 2023 as part of the coaching staff. He also has experience working with the coaching staff of Delhi Capitals in the IPL. Working with Agarkar Ajay Ratra will work in the BCCI selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar. Along with him, Shiv Sundar Das, Subroto Banerjee and Sreedharan Sharath are also part of the selection committee. The BCCI formed a new selection committee ahead of the Asia Cup in 2023. With a new selection committee team, India won the Asia Cup and reached the final in the ODI World Cup. The team also won the T-20 World Cup this year. The first challenge of the night as a member of the selection committee will be in the form of the Bangladesh series to select the team against Bangladesh. Team India will play 2 Tests and 3 T-20s against Bangladesh. The team for this series is yet to be announced. Agarkar led by Ratra and other members will select the team for this series. After Bangladesh, Team India will play series against New Zealand, Australia and England. Team India's biggest challenge will be in the form of the Test series in Australia and the Champions Trophy starting next year.
