Toyota's first electric car will be based on the Maruti EVX: Like the ICE, the companies will share electric vehicles, which will be built at Suzuki's plant.

Toyota's first electric car will be based on the Maruti Suzuki EVX. Suzuki and Toyota issued a joint statement on Wednesday (October 30) announcing their first collaboration in the electric vehicle (EV) segment. However, no information has been given about the name or specification of this EV.

According to the statement, Toyota's first electric car will be an SUV, which will be manufactured at the Suzuki Motor Group's plant in Halipur, Gujarat. It has become clear that Toyota's first EV will be based on the Maruti Suzuki EVX, as Maruti plans to launch its first electric SUV next year.

The statement said that the production of this electric SUV will start in the last quarter of 2025. Both versions of the SUV will be launched first in the Indian market. After this, both models will be exported to overseas markets like Japan, Middle East and Europe.
