Chinese tech company Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi has launched the Redmi A4 5G smartphone in India on November 20. This is the world's first 5G smartphone with Snapdragon 4S Gen 2 chipset. The Qualcomm processor is built on 4 nanometer fabrication, consisting of two 2GHz Cortex-A78 cores and six 1.8GHz Cortex-A55 cores.
Redmi A4 5G has a 50MP AI camera. It has been launched with 4GB RAM and two storage variants. These include 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 4GB RAM + 128GB storage variants.
Redmi A4 5G is priced at Rs. 10,999 has been launched, but as part of the launch offer, it will be offered at Rs. 2,500 discount is being given. It will go on sale from November 27.
The phone was first unveiled at the India Mobile Congress-2024 event held in Delhi last month. It comes with two color options. These include Starry Black and Sparkle Purple color options.

Display: The Redmi A4 5G features a 6.68-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1640×720 pixels. This is a waterdrop notch style screen, built on an LCD panel. The display operates at a 120Hz refresh rate with a 240Hz touch sampling rate. It has a peak brightness of 600 nits and also comes with blue light eye protection.
Memory: The phone is launched with 4GB LPDDR4x physical RAM. Along with this, 4GB virtual RAM support is available. This phone is powered by 8GB of RAM. For storage, it has 64GB and 128GB memory options. The storage can be expanded up to 1TB with the help of a micro SD card.
OS: Redmi A4 5G runs on Android 14 operating system. Along with this, 2 years of OS upgrade is available. That means it can be updated to Android 16. This mobile works on Hyper OS, with 4 years of security updates available.
Camera: For photography, a dual camera setup with LED flash is available on the rear panel of the mobile. It includes a 50-megapixel primary camera sensor with F/1.8 aperture and AI lens. Whereas, there is a 5-megapixel camera with F/2.2 aperture on the front for selfies and video calling. Both cameras can record 1080P/30FPS videos.
Battery: For power backup, the Redmi A4 has a 5160mAh battery. 18W fast charging technology is provided to charge the battery quickly. A 33W charger is being given free in the box along with the phone.
Other features: The Redmi A4 5G smartphone supports 5G bands. For connectivity, it has Bluetooth 5.3 and dual band WiFi 5. The smartphone is IP52 rated and has a side mounted fingerprint sensor for security.
