Maruti Suzuki India Limited will launch the production model of its first electric car EVX at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 to be held from January 17 next year. The company will start production at its Gujarat plant by the end of this year. The company claims that this car will run up to 550 kilometers on a full charge. The Maruti EVX electric SUV can be priced starting at Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). Maruti first showcased the concept version of the EVX at the 2023 Auto Expo. After this, an evolved version of the concept was shown at the Japan Mobility Expo 2023. It will compete with Tata Curve EV, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV. Apart from this, it can also be chosen from Tata Nection EV and Mahindra XUV400 EV as a premium electric car. Electric SUV Spotted During Testing Recently, this electric car has been spotted several times during testing. It carries over many design elements from the Japan Mobility Expo concept version. It will have a closed grille with Y-shape LED DRLs, flush-type door handles and connected tail lights. The cabin of the EVX will have a futuristic design, with dual integrated screens like the new car. The EVX will be powered by a 60KWh battery pack and an electric motor to showcase a driving range of up to 550km on a full charge. The company claims that this car will provide a driving range of up to 550 km once fully charged. However, this production model can also get a smaller battery pack variant with a range of around 400 km. At the same time, power figures have not been revealed yet. Electric cars our priority: Bhargava After Maruti Suzuki's recently held 43rd AGM, company chairman RC Bhargava said, 'Maruti Suzuki's line-up will have 6 electric cars by 2030, though we do not intend to convert our entire car series to electric'. The country needs low-cost and small cars, he said, adding that electric cars are a priority for Maruti Suzuki and the first car in the segment will go into production in a few months. Bhargava said, 'Any fall in demand for small cars will not change the strategy in this direction. Low cost and small cars are the need of our country. Strengthening sales service network in rural areas He said, 'We believe that low-cost small cars are essential for our economic and social conditions. A temporary drop in demand will not change our strategy. We are confident that the rural market will revive and many scooterists will want to upgrade to smaller cars. We are strengthening the sales service network in rural areas.
