Maruti Suzuki will launch the CNG version of the Swift next week. Its price may be announced on September 12. The Swift CNG will be based on the latest generation hatchback which was launched in May this year with a petrol engine. Priced around Rs 90,000 more than the petrol variant, the Swift CNG will be offered in multiple trims, though it remains to be seen whether Maruti will offer a CNG option on the top-spec variant. Swift CNG price is Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 90,000 more are expected. The Swift CNG will be powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z12E engine. This will be the first time this engine will be paired with CNG. Maruti has more models in the pipeline that will be powered by the Z12E engine. A CNG version will also come. Swift petrol model launched on May 9 Maruti Suzuki launched the fourth generation model of its most popular car Swift in India on May 9. The company claims that the new Swift gets a mileage of 24.8kmpl with the MT transmission and 25.7kmpl with the automatic transmission (AMT). The company has kept its starting price at Rs 6.49 lakh, which goes up to Rs 9.64 lakh. It has features like wireless charger, multi information screen and for safety, 6 airbags, ESP, hill hold control and three-point seatbelts in all variants. The new generation Swift is available in 9 color options The company has introduced the new generation Swift with 6 variants and two transmission options. There will be an option of 6 mono-tone colors along with three dual-tone colors. These include Sizzling Red, Luster Blue, Novel Orange, Magma Grey, Splendid Silver and Pearl Arctic White mono-tone colors. In dual tones, the Swift will be available in Sizzling Red with Midnight Black roof, Luster Blue with Midnight Black roof and Pearl Arctic White with Midnight Black roof. Novel Orange and Luster Blue are the new colors. The Z-series petrol engine in the new Swift is the biggest change to its powertrain. The Z-series gets a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, replacing the K12 four-cylinder petrol engine found in the current model. This engine generates 82hp of power and 112Nm of torque. In comparison, the previous model generated 90hp and 113Nm, down 8hp and 1Nm. The new Swift offers a choice of 5-speed manual and automatic (AMT) gearboxes along with the engine for transmission. 34% of Maruti's total sales come from CNG models Maruti is looking to increase its sales with Swift CNG. Currently 34% of its total sales come from CNG models. Sales of Maruti's CNG models have increased by 37% compared to last year. Maruti accounts for 73% of CNG car and SUV sales. Maruti currently has a 73% share of the total CNG cars and SUVs sold in India. Maruti Suzuki aims to sell more than 6 lakh CNG vehicles in FY 2025, which will be equal to the CNG sales of the entire market in FY 2024.
