Maruti Suzuki has launched the new generation model of its best selling sedan Dzire in India. It has been launched in both petrol and CNG powertrain options. The company claims that the CNG version of the car will deliver a mileage of 33.73km/kg.
The car was recently crash tested by Global NCAP, where it received a 5-star safety rating. It is the first car from the company to receive a 5-star safety rating from any crash test agency and is also the first 5-star rated sedan in the Indian market.
The fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Dezire is based on the company's hatchback Maruti Swift platform, but has a completely different design. The car is introduced with electric sunroof, 6 airbags as standard and many segment first features.
Price starts from Rs 6.79 lakh The sedan has been launched in the market in just 4 variants – LXI, VXI, ZXI and ZXI+. The updated model is priced at Rs 6.79 lakh ex-showroom, which goes up to Rs 10.14 lakh for the top variant ZXI Petrol CNG. This price is valid till the end of 2024.
The Maruti Dzire can be had on a subscription basis, with installments starting at Rs. 18,248 starting from Rs. This includes registration, maintenance, insurance and roadside assistance. It will compete with Honda Amaze, Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor in the sedan segment.
Design: 15-inch alloy wheels with LED headlights The 2024 Dzire may be built on the platform of the Swift hatchback, but its look is completely different. The front has a large grille with horizontal slats, which is completely different from the Swift's honeycomb pattern grille.
Slick LED headlights are provided on either side of the grille, with DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) placed in a horizontal layout. It has been given a front bumper with a stronger look, which now features a new style fog lamp housing.
However, its side profile and windowline still look similar to the old version. For the ride, it gets newly designed 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, it has Y-shaped LED taillights, which are paired with a chrome element.
Interior: Swift facelift The new generation Dzire gets an all-new dashboard layout with a black and white dual-tone theme, inspired by the Swift facelift, Ford Figo, Baleno and Brezza. It features a 9.0-inch floating infotainment system, sleek AC vents and HVAC controls.
Apart from this, the car has wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, connected car technology, over 40 connected car features, wireless charger, semi-digital cluster with 4.2-inch MID, steering wheel mounted controls, automatic climate control, push-buttons. A rear parking camera with sensors and much more will be available.
Performance: The new Z-series petrol engine will be available The biggest change to the popular sedan will be in its powertrain. In place of the K12 four-cylinder petrol engine found in the current model, it will now get the new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine from the Z-series, which comes in the new Swift. This engine generates 82hp of power and 112Nm of torque.
In comparison, the current model generates 90hp and 113Nm, down 8hp and 1Nm. The new Swift will have a choice of 5-speed manual and automatic (AMT) gearboxes with the engine for transmission.
