MG Motor India launched the Windsor EV with battery pack in the Indian market yesterday (September 21st). This is India's first electric crossover utility vehicle (CUV). The company claims that this car will run up to 331 kilometers after a full charge. This is the first electric car launched in partnership between MG and JSW. MG has launched the Windsor in three variants – Excite, Exclusive and Essence. Its starting ex-showroom price is Rs. 13.49 lakh, which in the top variant is Rs. 15.49 lakh goes up to. The company launched Windsor EV on September 11 with battery rental program 'Battery as a Service' (BAAS) at Rs. It was launched at a price of 9.99 lakhs. This does not include the cost of the battery, under this program the company has to pay Rs 3.5 per kilometer per month. Bookings for the EV will begin from October 3, 2024 and deliveries are expected to begin by the festive season.

What is Battery as a Service? Battery as a Service (BAAS) is a battery rental program. Under this, the cost of the battery pack is not included in the purchase price of the electric car. Instead, you will be charged according to battery usage. That is, the cost of the battery will be charged as a rental fee based on the number of kilometers you drive, where you have to pay it as an EMI every month but you have to pay separately for charging the battery.
In addition, the first owner of the car will be offered a lifetime warranty, 60% buyback after three years and one year of free charging at public chargers using the eHUB through the MG app.
Performance: 136hp power and 331km range For performance, the MG Windsor has an electric motor mounted on the front axle, which can generate 136hp of power and 200Nm of torque. Along with this, four driving modes – Eco +, Eco, Normal and Sport are provided. To power the electric motor, a 38kWh LFP battery pack is provided.
The company claims that this car will run 331 kilometers once fully charged. The battery pack can be charged from 0 to 80% in 55 minutes with a 45kW charger. Along with this, 3.3kW and 7.7kW AC charger options will also be available. These can be charged from 0 to 100% in around 14 hours and 6.5 hours respectively.

Talking about the features, the Windsor has a large 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 8.8-inch digital display, wireless connectivity Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, rear AC vent, ventilated front seats, powered driver's seat, 9-speaker Infinity Sound. . Features like system, wireless phone charging, panoramic glass roof, 256-color adjustable ambient lighting, subwoofer in the boot, front and rear armrests. For safety, the car gets features like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, four disc brakes, front and rear parking sensors, ESC and 360 degree camera.
