MG Windsor Electric Car Launched Today: India's First Crossover Utility Vehicle, Will Compete With Tata Nexon EV

MG Motor India is going to launch Windsor, its first crossover utility vehicle (CUV) in the Indian market today. The company has developed it in partnership with JSW. The teaser released by the company revealed many features and details of the upcoming car. This car will have sedan-like comfort and SUV-like space. Apart from this, the Grandview 15.6 touch display, the largest in its segment, panoramic infinity view glass roof, aero-lounge seats will be available. This car can get a range of 460 kilometers. It may cost less than 20 lakh rupees. It will be positioned below the ZS EV in the company's EV portfolio. MG's new EV will have to compete with Curve EV, Nexon EV, XUV400. Will also be available with a panoramic glassroof A fixed panoramic glassroof is seen in a video shared on social media platform X. This glass roof allows a good amount of light to enter the cabin, giving the cabin a very premium feel. A similar glassroof is also offered in the Hyundai Premium EV Ioniq 5. Earlier teasers showed the car driving through water, mountains and paved roads, showcasing its high ground clearance and performance. Segment-first aero-lounge seats are also featured. Available overseas in two battery pack options, the car is sold in Indonesia as the Wuling Cloud EV, with a range of up to 460km. There is no information about the specifications of its Indian version yet. It may be offered with an electric powertrain called the Cloud EV. The Cloud EV comes with two battery pack options: It is powered by a front-axle-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor that produces 134hp. The EV is approximately 4.3 meters long with a 2,700 mm wheelbase. It looks like an MPV, but will only be available with a 5-seat configuration. Comfort feature: Electrically adjustable front seats can provide what the company is calling it India's first intelligent CUV. The car can get features like 8.8-inch digital driver display, wireless phone charging, multi-color ambient lighting, electric adjustable front seats and electric tailgate. Safety features: ADAS may be available with 6 airbags The car may offer safety features like 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Electronic Parking Brake and 360 degree camera. The Windsor EV may also be offered with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), under which functions such as adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking may be available.
