Mercedes-Benz G63 facelift launched in India, priced at ₹3.60 crore: SUV gets new mild hybrid engine and updated technology to rival Land Rover Defender

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the facelifted version of the Mercedes-AMG G63 in India on October 22. The starting price of the car has been kept at Rs 3.60 crore (ex-showroom pan-India).

More than 120 units of the first batch have already been booked for India. However, the company has opened bookings for the second batch, which is expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2025.

New design elements have been added to the car and its cabin has also been updated. Apart from this, this car has an updated 4 liter twin turbo mild hybrid petrol engine with active suspension setup and 4 wheel drive setup. The Mercedes AMG G63 doesn't have any direct competition, but it competes hard with off-roading cars like the Jeep Wrangler and Land Rover Defender.

Exterior: 22 inch new design alloy wheels In terms of design, the 2024 Mercedes AMG G63 is similar to its predecessor. It has a boxy shape and at the front, there is a black grill with 3 vertical slats in front of the air inlet. Along with this, a new AMG logo has been given on the newly designed bumper and hood.

There are round projector based LED headlights on either side of the grille with circular LED DRLs and fender mounted turn indicators. The wheel design on the side is also new and wheel options up to 22 inches are available. Apart from this, 31 color options and 29 seat upholstery options are available in the car.

Interior: 12.3-inch dual touch screen The cabin layout of the 2024 AMG G63 is also the same. However, it has been given a new steering wheel and is similar to the new generation car from Mercedes AMG. It has switches for various functions.

The cabin features Nappa leather upholstery on the seats and carbon fiber accents and customizable ambient lighting. It has been given a software update for a 12.3-inch screen and its off-road cockpit has also been updated. Apart from this, augmented reality has also been provided in the navigation system.

Talking about the features, a 12.3 inch dual touch screen (one infotainment system and the other driver display) is provided on the dashboard. Features like 18-speaker Burmester 3D surround sound system, 3-zone auto AC and sunroof are offered.

Safety features: The car is equipped with updated ADAS For safety, the SUV gets features like multiple airbags, 360-degree camera with blind spot assist and child ISOFIX anchor seat mounts. Apart from this, it also gets updated advanced driver assistance system features like Active Brake Assist and Lane Keep Assist.

Performance: Mild hybrid engine and active ride control suspension For performance, the new AMG G63 has a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, coupled with 48V mild hybrid technology. This setup generates a maximum power of 576hp and a torque of 850Nm. An additional boost of 20hp is also available during acceleration.

Talking about the transmission, the engine is tuned to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The car is equipped with the brand's 4Matic all-wheel drive system that supplies power to all the four wheels.

The SUV also features a new 'Race Start' function. With this, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.3 seconds. Its top speed is 240kmph. The special thing is that launch control feature has been provided for the first time in G63.
