Everyone is waiting for Maruti Suzuki's first electric car. On one hand, many companies including Tata Motors, Mahindra, MG Motors have strengthened their roots in this segment. On the other hand, Maruti's first electric car is still a dream for people. However, it seems that the time has come to realize this dream. In fact, the company is going to make its global debut on the final production-spec version of its much-awaited eVX on November 4 in Milan, Italy. This highlights the eVX as a global product for parent company Suzuki, as a significant portion of made-in-EV production in India is marked for export to Europe and Japan.
50% eVX manufactured in India will be exported The Maruti eVX will be manufactured at Suzuki's Gujarat plant. Start of Production (SOP) is scheduled for March 2025. The reason behind the Milan debut of the eVX is for local European press and dealers, as this e-SUV is a global product. In fact, the production target for the first year is 1.4 lakh units, of which 50% is earmarked for export.
Indian audiences will have to wait until the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, which will be held from January 17 to 22, to see the production-spec eVX. It will be launched in India first. After this, it will be introduced in select European markets and then in Japan. The eVX will compete with the new Tata Curve EV and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.
Maruti Suzuki's eVX design, battery pack and range Talking about its design, it will be quite different compared to the concept model. It will have a horizontal LED light bar covering the entire width at the back. It gets high-mounted stop lamps, shark fin antenna and slow antenna antenna. As for its exterior, it gets a raked front windshield, squared-off wheels and muscular side cladding that hides inside the warp. It will get 17 inch alloy wheels.
It can measure around 4,300 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,600 mm in height. The Suzuki eVX will be available in both single and dual-electric motor setups. It may be reserved for international markets such as Europe and Japan. The eVX can be equipped with a 60 kWh Li-ion battery pack, which can provide a driving range of around 500 km. A two-spoke steering wheel and a dual-screen layout are also seen in the test photos.
