Millions of Android users around the world are facing the threat of hacking. As reported by Android Headlines, chipset maker Qualcomm has published a document about the risks associated with Android smartphones running on Snapdragon processors. This is called a zero-day vulnerability. This means that even before the problem is fixed in the processor, it has already been identified and exploited.
Fear of theft of personal details and espionage The vulnerability, codenamed CVE-2024-43047, is found in a specific component of Qualcomm chipsets. According to the report, the company has not shared more information about it. Users who don't update their phones are still at risk. This major vulnerability to the chipset gave hackers full access to users' phones. In addition, through this, cybercriminals were stealing users' personal details, spying and installing malware on phones.
Chipsets greater than 64 are affected The number of chipsets affected by this vulnerability is said to be more than 64. Qualcomm has released the list of these chipsets. It also has the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 8 Gen 3 along with older chipsets like Snapdragon 865. This chipset is offered in phones from companies like Samsung, Oppo, Motorola and OnePlus. Apart from these chipsets, additional chipsets are offered in the processing unit like Fast Connect 6700, which offers functions like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. As soon as Qualcomm became aware of this vulnerability, it rolled out a security update for it. The patch was shared with phone manufacturers and later the companies rolled it out to users.
Protect yourself this way If you want to protect yourself from such vulnerabilities, keep your phone software updated. For the update, you have to go to the About section in Settings and check the Software Update option. If a new update is available here, download and install it immediately. Also use strong passwords for phone and services. You also have to keep in mind that you download apps on your phone only from the official app store.
