Mahindra & Mahindra has launched two 'Born Electric' SUVs in the Indian market, the XEV 9e and the BE 6e. The company has produced both electric SUVs under the banner of its sub-brands XEV and BE. They are designed on Mahindra's in-house INGLO platform, a modular skateboard architecture designed specifically for electric vehicles.
BE 6e Pack One is priced at Rs. 18.90 lakh ex-showroom, while the XEV 9e Pack One is priced at Rs. 21.90 lakh ex-showroom. Both models are slated to hit the market in January 2025. Deliveries will begin from February 2025. The company claims that both the cars will get a range of over 500 kilometers on a full charge and can accelerate from 0-100kmph in just 6.7 seconds.
As far as the design profile is concerned, both the cars fall into different categories. The BE 6e has a sporty look, aimed at the younger generation, while the XEV 9e has all the features of a typical SUV, making for a comfortable family ride.
Features, Prizes and Competition As far as features are concerned, both use the company's Adrenox software, 360-degree cameras, advanced driver assistance system and a panoramic glass roof. The BE 6e has a twin 12.3-inch screen setup, while the XEV 9e has a three-screen system of the same dimensions.
Battery and charging The car comes in two battery options, one with a 59 KWh variant and the other with a 79 KWh system. A lithium iron phosphate battery delivers 228 to 282 hp of rear-wheel drive experience. The battery also features fast charging using a 175 kW DC charger. It is able to charge the battery from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes. The certified ARAI range of the car is 682 km on a single charge. Safety features are also said to be strengthened with Mahindra introducing a protective cage-like structure around the passenger cabin using boron steel. The company claims that the frontal structure has also been reinforced, providing an extra layer of protection. If that is not enough, the car comes with seven airbags, which add to the safety features. The BE 6e Pack One is priced ex-showroom at Rs. 18.90 lakhs, making it quite affordable in its series.
