Hero Splendor Plus Launched with Xtec Disc Brake: Priced at ₹82,911, Will Get 73kmpl Mileage, Will Rival Shine 100

Hero MotoCorp has (on September 6) launched the updated version of the Hero Splendor Plus Xtec in the Indian market. The company's best-selling bike will now come with disc brakes. However, the drum brake will be available only on the rear wheel. The Splendor Plus Xtec has been introduced with new graphics and minor cosmetic updates. Apart from this, the company has not made any changes in the bike's design, other hardware and engine. This bike runs 73 kilometers on one liter of petrol. Splendor Plus Xtec with disc brake is Rs 3550 more expensive Hero has priced the disc brake variant of the bike at Rs 83,461 ex-showroom, which is Rs 3550 more than the drum brake variant. The drum brake trim is priced at Rs 79,911 ex-showroom. The disc brake variant will be available in three color options, including Black Sparkling Blue, Black Tornado Gray and Red Black. At the same time, in addition to the three colors in the drum brake variant, a pearl fadeless white color option is also available. The disc brake variant of the bike is 1.6kg heavier than the standard model, with a curb weight of 113.6kg. The new Splendor Plus competes with the likes of Honda Shine 100, Bajaj CT 100, Bajaj Platina and TVS Radiant in India. Splendor Plus Xtec: Performance For performance, the Splendor Plus Xtec has a 97.2CC air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. This petrol engine generates 8.02 hp at 8,000rpm and 8.05Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. The engine is tuned to a 4-speed gearbox for transmission and uses i3s technology. It is an idle stop start system, in which the engine automatically shuts off within 5 seconds when the bike is parked and restarts as soon as the clutch is depressed. This reduces fuel consumption. The company claims that this bike gives a mileage of 73 kmpl. It has a fuel tank with a capacity of 9.8 liters. Splendor Plus Xtec: Braking, Suspension and Features For a comfortable ride, the bike comes with a telescopic fork at the front and 5-step preload adjustable twin shock absorber suspension at the rear. For braking, the top variant gets a 240mm front disc brake and a 130mm rear drum brake. While the standard variant gets 130mm drum brakes on both the wheels. The bike has 18-inch wheels with 80-section tubeless tires. Its ground clearance is 165 mm. Talking about the features, the bike has a fully digital instrument cluster, which displays the mileage information. Apart from this, it gets side-stand indicator, speedometer, odometer, trip meter and low fuel indicator readout, Bluetooth connectivity with call and message alerts, USB charging port and more. The bike now also features a hazard light with a dedicated switch.
