Maruti Suzuki today (September 12) launched the CNG version of its most popular car Swift in India. The company launched its fourth generation model in the Indian market in May this year. Apart from the mechanical update, the Swift S-CNG is unchanged. The company claims that the new Swift will deliver a mileage of 32.85km in the CNG version. The car returns a mileage of 24.8kmpl in petrol version with MT transmission and 25.7kmpl with automatic transmission (AMT). This is the highest mileage hatchback car in India. The new gen Swift will get features like wireless charger, multi-information screen and for safety, 6 airbags, ESP, hill hold control and three-point seat belts in all variants. In India, it competes with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the Tata Tiago. The CNG version is Rs 90 thousand more expensive than the petrol version. The new Swift S-CNG is offered in three variants. Its price starts from Rs 8.20 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.20 lakh. Whereas, its petrol version comes with 6 variants and two transmission options, priced between Rs 6.49 lakh and Rs 9.64 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom. Only the manual transmission option is offered in the CNG version. The CNG variant of the Swift is priced at Rs. 90,000 more. Maruti Suzuki Swift S-CNG: Variant wise price The new generation Swift will be available in 9 color options The car comes with 6 mono-tone and three dual-tone color options. These include Sizzling Red, Luster Blue, Novel Orange, Magma Grey, Splendid Silver and Pearl Arctic White mono-tone colors. The Swift will be available in dual tone Sizzling Red with Midnight Black roof, Luster Blue with Midnight Black roof and Pearl Arctic White with Midnight Black roof. Novel Orange and Luster Blue are the new colors. The new Z-series will get a petrol engine The hatchback gets the Z-series' 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, which generates 82hp of power and 112Nm of torque. The new Swift offers a choice of 5-speed manual and automatic (AMT) gearboxes along with the engine for transmission. Whereas, in the CNG version, the same engine generates 69.75hp of power and 101.8Nm of torque. It has only 5 speed manual transmission. The power of the CNG model of the new Swift has been reduced. The previous generation model generated 77hp, although the new model has more torque. The new Swift does not have a twin-cylinder setup like Hyundai and Tata's CNG models. As before, it gets a large cylinder in the boot space. As for emissions, Maruti says the CO2 level of the new Swift CNG is 6% lower than the previous car. Next Generation Swift: Exterior Design Talking about the design, it retains its old looks, but a closer look reveals several new design elements. The front has sharp looking headlamps with a projector setup, with inbuilt LED daytime running lamps. A redesigned honeycomb pattern black grille with dark chrome finish is placed between the two headlamps. The company logo is now placed above the grille and below the bonnet. The front bumper also gets some changes and the front fog lamp gets a different housing and looks cleaner than before. There are no changes to the side profile apart from the 15-inch alloy wheels. The rear taillight has been replaced. Now they are smaller and sportier than before. S-CNG badging is given on the tailgate. The new Swift is 15mm longer, 40mm wider and 30mm taller than the outgoing model, but the wheelbase remains the same as the outgoing model at 2,450mm. The company is calling it the fourth generation model, while the new generation Swift is based on the same Heartect platform. Next Generation Swift: Interior The new generation Swift gets a black and white dual-tone themed dashboard layout, inspired by the Ford Figo, Baleno and Brezza. It features a new dashboard layout with a 9.0-inch floating infotainment system, sleek AC vents and HVAC controls at the bottom. Apart from this, the car features wireless Apple Car Play/Android Auto, connected car technology, over 40 connected car features, wireless charger, semi-digital cluster with 4.2-inch MID, steering wheel mounted controls, automatic climate control, push-buttons. Start, rear parking camera with sensors and much more are available.
