BMW India launched the updated M2 Coupe SUV in India on November 28. The company has kept the starting price of this sports car at Rs 1.03 crore (ex-showroom). The company introduced the M2 with minor design changes and two new color options.
The company has introduced a more powerful 3.0 liter 6-cylinder twin-turbo engine in the car. BMW claims that this car can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4 seconds. The car has no direct competitor in India, but with dimensions and power it can compete with the Mercedes-AMG A 45 S hatchback.
Design and Features
The design of the BMW M2 reflects its performance-oriented character with features like black exhaust tailpipes, horizontal bars and a frameless kidney grille with flared wheel arches. Optional add-ons like the M carbon roof lower the vehicle's center of gravity for better handling. Customers can choose from a variety of paint finishes and interior trims, including sporty M-specific upholstery and carbon-fibre elements. Inside the car, there is a curved display with a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch central display. The interior includes options like customized M mode and M carbon bucket seats for a better driving experience.
Engine and Performance
The new car is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line engine that generates 480 hp and 600 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.0 seconds with the eight-speed automatic transmission and 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds with the optional six-speed manual gearbox. The M Driver package increases the car's electronically limited top speed from 250 km/h to 285 km/h. Adaptive M-specific suspension, high performance brakes and M Sport differential ensure an engaging and responsive drive.
Safety features
In terms of safety, the M2 is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite that includes multiple airbags, dynamic stability control and an Active M differential. It also has the latest BMW iDrive system with operating system 8.5, which includes gesture control, voice commands and wireless smartphone integration.
Color optionThe new BMW M2 is offered in various color options. Non-metallic choices include Alpine White and M Zandvoort Blue. Metallic paint options include Brooklyn Grey, Black Sapphire, Fire Red, Portimao Blue, Sao Paulo Yellow and Skyscraper Grey.
