Abroad Job Scams: Beware of Fake Agents Claiming to Provide Jobs, Identify Fake Job Offers and Avoid Big Losses

Recently, a case of fraud of 5 people in the name of jobs abroad came to light in Rajasthan's Sikar, where an agent cheated them of Rs 32.80 lakhs in the name of jobs in New Zealand. The accused kept his office in front of Jaipur railway station.

Every year hundreds of people fall prey to fraud in the name of admission to major universities for jobs and studies abroad. In such a situation, one needs to be wary of this type of fraud.

In such a situation, they forget that not everyone is qualified and capable for a job abroad. Fake agents lie to people just to cheat them out of money. Creates fake documents for them. In exchange for all this, he cheats people out of lakhs of rupees.

Answer: To avoid scams in the name of job abroad, it is important to first find the right agent. For this you can go to the website of the Ministry of External Affairs and find a suitable agent who offers jobs abroad. All these agents are recognized by the Ministry of External Affairs.

If you have got a job offer from abroad, first go to emigrate.gov.in Website. In this, go to Recruiting Agent option and click on it. After this go to recruiting agent list. After completing this process, it will appear the list of foreign agents who have been declared fake by the Ministry of External Affairs. Here you can see real and fake agent name.

Question- How to identify fake job offer from foreign company?

Answer- It is very important to identify job offers from foreign companies as people are being cheated in the name of fake offer letters. Be wary if someone is offering you higher salary, bonus or perks in a job offer letter. Make sure to cross check it.

Keep in mind that jobs offering to join immediately or without an interview are often fake. Don't fall into the trap of such job offers. If you received this offer via email, check the domain of the email. The fake offer letter comes from a similar domain instead of the company's official email. Answer- If you are scammed in the name of job or study abroad, you can take help of 'Madad' portal of Government of India. On this portal, Indian citizens can register their complaints against fake agents, fraud and other issues.

Q- How does the Help Portal work?

Answer- For assistance on 'Madad' portal, visit https://madad.gov.in/AppConsular/welcomeLink. You can register your complaint here. After this this information reaches the concerned officer or ministry.

Action is taken against concerned agent after complaint. First a show cause notice is issued to them. If he does not give a satisfactory answer, his registration is suspended for 30 days. If the agent still does not take any action on the person's complaint, his/her registration may be canceled permanently. Whatever action is taken by the Ministry, updates are sent to you.

Don't trust jobs offered in emails. Also, before clicking on any such link, please check it. Never share your personal or bank details on suspicious links. If you have any doubts, consult an expert or inform the concerned authorities. Being alert is the greatest protection.
