Youth in Bengaluru breaks statue of Lingayat saint: Said- Jesus came in a dream and asked to do this; Identified by CCTV, youth arrested

A parcel delivery youth vandalized the statue of Lingayat saint Sivakumar Swamy in Bengaluru. He made a big hole in the idol's head. Mr. Krishna, 37, who broke the idol, said that Jesus Christ appeared in his dream and asked him to break the idol.

When the people of the area came to know about the breaking of the statue, they immediately informed the police. Police identified the accused on the basis of CCTV footage and arrested him.

The accused Krishna has been arrested by the police.

The young man had gone to deliver the parcel The youth who broke the idol reached Veerbhadra Nagar on November 30 at 1:30 pm to deliver the parcel. Here he smashed the idol of Shivakumar Swamy with a hammer. People from nearby restaurants came out after hearing the noise. People tried to catch the accused, but he escaped. After which the incident was reported to the police.

A mental examination of the accused was conducted After taking the accused into custody, the police conducted a mental examination of him. His report is yet to come. The accused was produced in court, from where he has been sent to judicial custody. Police suspect that he broke the idol as he was mentally unstable. There is no other ulterior motive in this.

The head priest of Bengaluru termed the explanation of the accused as baseless Bengaluru chief priest Dr. Peter has termed the statement of the accused of breaking the idol at the behest of Jesus as baseless. He told the people that any such talk is only aimed at creating communal tension.

Who is Shivakumar Swamy? Shivakumar Swami is highly revered among Lingayat saints. He was also called 'Walking God'. He died in 2019 at the age of 111. Before this he was the head of Siddhganga Math for 8 years. This Math is counted among the most important religious places of the Lingayat community.

Lingayat saint Shivakumar Swami breathed his last on 21 January 2019 at the age of 111.
