Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday directly asked several questions to Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan regarding the farmers' agitation.
Pointing at Shivraj, he said, Agriculture Minister, every moment of yours is heavy. I request you and second person under the Constitution of India please tell me what was promised to the farmer? And why was the promise not kept?
What do we do to keep the promise? There was a movement last year too, this year too there is a movement. The wheel of time keeps turning. We are not doing anything.
Dhankhar was speaking at the centenary function of the Central Institute of Research in Cotton Technology (CIRCOT) in Mumbai. Shivraj also participated in this program.
However, he did not respond to the Vice President's questions. Shivraj said- India cannot become a prosperous country without farmers.
Vice President said- Indian farmer is helpless… 4 points
- I saw India changing for the first time. I felt for the first time that a developed India is not our dream but our goal. India has never been so high in the world. Why is my farmer upset and sad when this is happening?
- This time is painful for me because I am steeped in nationalism. Our credibility in the world has never been higher, the Prime Minister of India today is considered among the top leaders of the world.
- Modi has given a message to the world that only through dialogue can there be a solution. In such a situation, the problems of the farmers should be resolved. To attain the status of a developed nation, the income of every citizen has to increase eight times.
- Who are the people who tell the farmers that they will give them a fair price for their produce? I do not understand that the mountain will collapse. The farmer is alone and helpless.
