Police arrested 5 VHP workers yesterday. VHP workers are protesting this on Sunday morning.
The VHP and the Bajrang Dal are protesting on Monday morning over stone pelting at a mosque and objectionable posts on social media in Karnataka's Mangaluru. Police erected barricades to stop the protest, which the demonstrators removed.
According to media reports, some bike-borne people pelted stones at the Badria Masjid in Kattipalla outside Mangaluru late on Sunday night. In which 5 people have been arrested. All these people are affiliated with VHP.
People gathered for a demonstration in Katipalla at night against the arrest. However, the protests did not escalate late into the night. After this, VHP and Bajrang Dal activists were agitated on Monday morning over the post shared on social media.
They are chanting slogans on the road regarding both the incidents. Police said that efforts are being made to control the situation. The deployment of jawans has been increased. Police have not released more information about the case.
Police personnel have been deployed in Mangaluru to prevent VHP and Bajrang Dal protests.
The stone pelting took place at Katipalla's Badaria Masjid at around 10:30 pm. The windows of the mosque were broken due to stone pelting.
FIR registered regarding social media post: According to media reports, tension has risen in the area over social media posts related to the Eid-e-Milad rally. The police have also registered an FIR in Bantwal police station regarding the post. The Dakshina Kannada SP said that legal action will be taken against anyone who disrupts peace.
