The date of assembly by-elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Kerala has been changed. The Election Commission on Monday said that voting for 14 assembly seats in three states will now be held on November 20 instead of November 13. The result will come on 23rd November itself.
According to news agency ANI, polling will now take place on November 20 in 9 assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh, 4 in Punjab and 1 in Kerala. The dates have been changed on the demand of BJP, Congress, RLD and BSP.
These parties said that November 15 is Kartak Purnima and Prakash Parva of Guru Nanak Devji. While Kalapathi Rastholsevam will be celebrated in Kerala from November 13 to 15. Due to which the polling may have been affected.
Elections to 288 seats of Maharashtra Assembly are going to be held on November 20. Apart from this, by-elections will also be held on November 20 in Nanded Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra and Kedarnath assembly seat in Uttarakhand.

There is no change in dates for 33 seats in 10 states The dates for 33 seats in 10 states have not been changed in today's announcement by the Election Commission. That means voting will be held here on 13th November only. On the same day, voting will also be held on 43 seats of the Jharkhand Assembly. On October 15, the Election Commission announced the by-election dates for 48 Assembly and 2 Lok Sabha seats in 14 states along with Maharashtra-Jharkhand.
