In fact, the Constituent Assembly passed the Constitution of India on 26 November 1949, which was accepted by the country on 26 January 1950. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment issued a notification on 19 November 2015. It was said that November 26 should be celebrated as 'Constitution Day' every year. It aims to celebrate and promote constitutional values among citizens.
The manuscript of the constitution is in a black leather cover with gold engraving work.
Why was the Constitution not implemented on 26 November 1949? On 26 January 1930, the Congress gave the slogan of complete independence of the country. In his memory, we waited until January 26, 1950 to implement the Constitution. In 1929, the Lahore session of the Congress presided over by Jawaharlal Nehru took the oath of complete Swaraj for the first time.
In that convention, a demand was made from the British government that India be granted sovereign status by January 26, 1930. Purna Swaraj or Independence Day was then celebrated for the first time on January 26, 1930.
After this, Independence Day continued to be celebrated on January 26 till August 15, 1947, i.e. for the next 17 years. Due to the importance of this day, the Constitution of the country was enacted on 26 January 1950 and it was declared as Republic Day.
