Telangana govt refuses to accept donation from Adani: CM Reddy says – My image may be damaged, group announced to give ₹100 crore

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that the state government will not accept the donation from Adani Group. The group announced Rs 100 crore for the Young India Skill University.

In a press conference on Monday, Reddy said – Due to the current controversy, a decision has been taken that the state government will not accept donations from the Adani Group. It may harm the state government and my own image.

He said that the government has sent a letter to Adani Group on Sunday itself. It has requested the Adani Group not to transfer Rs 100 crore to the university.

Reddy said – Many companies have given funds to the university, but so far the Telangana government has not taken even a single rupee from any group in its account.

Telangana Government Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan has written to Adani Group.

According to a Reuters report, arrest warrants have also been issued against Gautam Adani and Sagar. Adani paid or planned to pay $265 million (about Rs 2,200 crore) in bribes to Indian officials to secure contracts related to solar power in India, the United States Attorney's Office said.

The entire matter is related to Adani Green Energy Limited and another firm. Sagar is an officer of Adani Green Energy Limited.

American investors' money, so Adani is accused of lying to American investors and banks to get bribe money. The case was filed in the US because money from American investors was withheld in the project and giving that money as a bribe is a crime under American law.

In response to this, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said in a press conference that Rahul Gandhi is tarnishing the image of Prime Minister Modi. He raised the Rafale issue in 2019, but later had to apologize to the Supreme Court. Rahul Gandhi said in a press conference that the Congress is doing the work of the judiciary, while mother and son (Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi) are on bail.

Adani said – all the allegations are baseless Adani Group termed all the allegations as baseless. In a statement, the group said the allegations leveled by the United States Department of Justice and the United States Securities and Exchange Commission against the directors of Adani Green Energy Limited are baseless. The US Justice Department itself said these are just allegations.

Gautam Adani's net worth fell by ₹1.02 lakh crore in a day Adani Group Chairperson Gautam Adani's net worth fell by $12.1 billion (roughly Rs 1.02 lakh crore) to $57.7 billion (Rs 4.87 lakh crore) in a single day due to a fall in stocks on November 21 following allegations of bribery and fraud.

Shares of 9 out of 10 Adani Group companies declined and 1 company rose. Adani Enterprises fell the most by 23.44%. While, shares of Adani Green Energy closed down 18.95%.
