Stone pelting on Ganesha idol in Maharashtra's Bhiwandi: Many injured in police lathi charge, people say – We will not dissolve till arrested

Violent clashes broke out between two groups in Maharashtra's Bhiwandi after stone pelting on a Ganesha idol.

A Ganesha idol was pelted with stones during the Ganesh vidaya procession in Maharashtra's Bhiwandi late last night, due to which the idol broke.

As soon as the news of stone pelting on the Farewell Yatra was heard, people rushed to the spot. Some people shouted slogans, after which people from both sides gathered there. Senior police officials also reached the spot to control the situation.

People said that they will not disperse until the stone pelters are arrested. Police resorted to baton charge after clashes and clashes between the two groups. Some people have been injured in this. Some policemen were also injured.

According to media reports, an angry mob grabbed a youth and handed him over to the police. He said that it was the same person who pelted the statue.

Many people were injured during the violent clashes. Police reached the spot late in the night and brought the situation under control.

Preoccupied with avoiding police-administration conflict After the lathicharge, BJP MLA Mahesh Chowghule arrived with his supporters. He tried to calm people down. Meanwhile, a large number of people had thronged the dargah. DCP Srikanth Philanthropic Additional Commissioner Gyaneshwar Chavan said that some people have been detained. An investigation is underway and action will be taken against the culprits. The police have called journalists and people from the Mohalla Committee so that there is no clash. A large number of police forces have been deployed.
