Stone pelting at religious procession in Maharashtra's Nandurbar: Rioters torch houses and vehicles, police fire tear gas shells; 7 injured

A violent clash broke out between two groups during a religious procession in Maharashtra's Nandurbar. Nandurbar police said that a religious procession started at Maliwada area at 3 pm on Thursday. Meanwhile, some youths raised slogans against the people in the procession.

After this, stone pelting started between the two groups. Some youths set fire to a house. They also tried to burn the LPG cylinder. Some vehicles were also set on fire. Police fired tear gas canisters. The enraged crowd also pelted stones on the police.

Police said that 7 policemen including two officers and five constables were injured in the stone pelting. Troops were called from Dhule. The situation was brought under control by late night. The suspects are being detained. The process of registering the case is going on.
