In a satellite image taken by the American space agency NASA, the thick smog, clouds of toxic smoke covering Lahore, Pakistan are now visible from the sky.
The main states of North India, Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh are covered by fog. Till 12 noon, Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida and Faridabad recorded AQI above 400, according to air quality index agency AQI.in.
According to the Meteorological Department, the visibility in Amritsar was only 50 meters till 8.30 am on Wednesday. Visibility was 100 meters in Halwara (Ludhiana), 250 meters in Sarsavan (Saharanpur), 300 meters in Ambala and 400 meters in Chandigarh.
Zero visibility was recorded at Adampur in Punjab, Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh and Indira Gandhi Airport in Delhi. Due to which 7 flights from Delhi to Jaipur and one from Lucknow were diverted.
Media reports are claiming that this level of pollution and smog has reached northern India from Lahore, Pakistan. According to Swiss air quality technology company IQAir, Lahore was the world's most polluted city on November 12.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Lahore was 429 on Tuesday afternoon, while one area recorded a real-time AQI reading of 720. Clouds of thick, toxic smoke that engulfed Lahore, Pakistan are now visible from space, in satellite images taken by NASA.
Lahore smog is not natural, it is due to pollution
According to news agency ANI, experts say that severe pollution in Lahore cannot be considered seasonal, as dangerous smog persists even in the summer months. This fog points to systematic environmental mismanagement. This menace is not only due to stubble burning but also due to vehicular smoke, industries, negligence in environmental maintenance.
Heavy rains in Tamil Nadu in last 24 hours
Unlike North India, life in the South has been badly affected due to heavy rains. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal received heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours. Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Villupuram and Puducherry received heavy rains in Tamil Nadu. Due to which schools have been ordered to be closed.

Chandigarh and most of the cities of Punjab are shrouded in fog. Chandigarh air is totally polluted. Chandigarh's Air Quality Index (AQI) has crossed 375. This simply means that breathing here is equivalent to smoking twenty cigarettes a day. Which is very dangerous for health.

The impact of light snowfall in Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh is now being seen in the plains states. In Rajasthan, the day and night temperatures also decreased by 3 to 5 degrees. The night temperature in the hill station Mount Abu touched 10 degrees Celsius. Hanumangarh-Ganganagar recorded the maximum day temperature below 30 degrees Celsius.
Haryana: Visibility 50 meters for 2 days due to fog
Weather in Haryana has changed due to activation of Western Disturbance. Most of the districts of the state are in the grip of dense fog. Visibility has also reduced to 50 meters. Seeing this, the Meteorological Department has declared a fog alert for 2 days. The cold has increased due to the blowing wind. In the last 24 hours, Ambala had the coldest days and Hisar had the coldest nights.
