Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reached Wayanad on a two-day visit on Monday. He filed his candidature for the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election on October 23. On the first day of the election campaign, he held a road show in Wayanad.
Priyanka met students at Nilgiri College here. After this he addressed a public meeting in Meenangadi.
She said, I am telling everyone for the first time that after marriage I joined Mother Teresa Sisters in Delhi. There she taught English and Hindi to young children. Every Tuesday we clean the bathroom, sweep the floor, cook food, teach painting and sometimes go for a walk outside.
Priyanka said, I was 19 years old. After 6-7 months of my father's death, Mother Teresa came home to visit Mother (Sonia). I had a fever at that time. Mother Teresa met me, put her hand on my head. He put his garland on my hand.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi won from Kerala's Wayanad and UP's Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seats. He chose Rae Bareli, the traditional seat of the Gandhi family, and left Wayanad.
After this Congress has given ticket to Rahul's sister Priyanka Gandhi. Priyanka is contesting elections for the first time. BJP has fielded Navya Haridas against him. Voting will be held here on 13th November and the result will be out on 23rd November.
Priyanka's open letter to the people of Wayanad After filing the nomination on October 23, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra wrote an open letter to the people of Wayanad, saying that she would strengthen the relationship between Rahul and Wayanad. He wrote in a letter shared on X. This will be my first visit as a public representative, but it will not be my first visit as a fighter.
He wrote that a few months ago I went to Churmala and Mundakkai with my brother. I saw the destruction and damage caused by the landslide. I met children who had lost their family members. I met mothers who were weeping over their children and families, whose entire lives had been swept away by the fury of nature.
He wrote – Yet, amidst the darkness of tragedy that befell you, your courage and fortitude as a community stood out to me the most. You are united with a strength I have never seen before. Doctors, public representatives, volunteers, social workers, teachers, nurses, housewives, everyone was doing what they could to help each other.
