A truck overturned on the highway in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi. The truck was loaded with 1800 kg of tomatoes. As soon as the truck overturned, the tomatoes were scattered over an area of 50 meters on the highway. Meanwhile, a woman on a scooty coming from behind collided with a truck and was injured.
Police reached the spot to prevent looting of tomatoes sold at Rs 80 to 120 per kg in the market. The truck was surrounded. The police kept the arrangement of tomatoes till morning. The incident took place on Thursday (October 17) night at Sipri Bazar on the Jhansi-Gwalior highway.
According to sources, the villagers also reached the spot, but did not go near the truck on seeing the police. A video of police guarding tomatoes has surfaced.

As the truck reached Sipri Bazar police station area on the Jhansi-Gwalior highway at around 12 pm, the truck went out of control and overturned.
Meanwhile, a woman riding a scooty following the truck was injured. He was shifted to hospital for treatment. As soon as the news of tomatoes being scattered came, the surrounding people started gathering on the highway. Some people started making videos. Just then the police arrived.
The accident occurred while the cow was coming: the driver Truck driver Arjun said – I was going to Delhi from Anantapur (Bengaluru). The truck was full of tomatoes. Suddenly a cow came in front of the truck, due to which the steering wheel lost control and the truck overturned. Halpern suffered minor injuries. The woman was coming from behind. She was injured when she collided with a truck.

Why are tomato prices skyrocketing? In Delhi and surrounding states, tomatoes are retailing up to Rs 120 per kg these days. It is being said that the tomato crop has been damaged due to heavy rains in many states including Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. Due to reduced supply, tomato prices have increased significantly. According to the informants, till the new crop of tomatoes comes in the market, the price will remain the same.
Police arrangements were made to prevent accidents Akhilesh Dwivedi, in-charge of Sipari Bazar Police Station, said – Police force was deployed after the accident. So that accidents do not occur due to scattered tomatoes and trucks on the highway. However, the truck was removed from the road in the morning and the tomatoes are safe.
