Vikas Yadav, accused of conspiracy to kill Khalistan terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, has filed a petition in Delhi court. Vikas asked the court to exempt him from appearing in the hearing.
Vikas reasoned that now his identity, his home address and his photos are exposed to the world. In such a situation there is serious threat to his life, so he should be exempted from hearing.
On 18 October, the American investigative agency FBI framed charges against Vikas for conspiracy to kill Pannu. Apart from this, allegations of money laundering were also leveled against him. The FBI says Vikas was linked to India's intelligence agency RAW. The FBI released a poster declaring Vikas Yadav most wanted.
America's secret agency FBI has released three photos of Vikas Yadav. He has been declared wanted.
Vikas gave 4 reasons in the plea…
1. Open identity Vikas Yadav said in his petition, “The allegations against me are false and baseless. My personal information like address, background and photo have been circulated all over the world. In such a situation, my life is under serious threat from bad people.”
2. The enemy is constantly on the lookout Vikas said, “The enemy is constantly watching me. They are constantly looking for me, I am being searched everywhere. I have no other option but to stay in hiding for security reasons.”
3. Threat if produced in court “There is a constant threat to my life. If I physically go to the court for the hearing, the enemies will get a chance to harm me,” said the former RAW official.
4. Risk in video conferencing too Vikas wrote, “Even appearing in court through video conferencing is not risk free given the circumstances. My location can be traced with the help of technology.”
'Vikas gave Nikhil all the information about Pannu' The FBI said in the chargesheet that Vikas had implicated and instructed Nikhil Gupta in the conspiracy, in which he had complete information about Pannu. It included Pannu's address, mobile number and daily activities.
It was after this that Gupta approached a criminal, whom he believed to be a contract killer, to kill Pannu. However, he was actually an undercover agent of the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). According to the FBI, Yadav had planned to pay 1 lakh dollars (about 83 lakh rupees) for this murder.
Delhi Police arrested Vikas last year Vikas Yadav was arrested by the Delhi Police on December 18. A Delhi businessman filed a case of attempted murder and kidnapping against him. After this, the police arrested Vikas and one of his associates. The businessman also spoke about the relationship between Vikas and gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Vikas was granted bail in the case in April this year.
The businessman said – Vikas had said that Lawrence had given him a contract to kill him The businessman lodged a complaint with the police and said that he and Vikas met in November. A man who described himself as a senior government official introduced him to Vikas. Vikas then tells her that he is an undercover agent. However, she never told the businessman about her work and office. Vikas called him on December 11 at Lodhi Road. Where Vikas and one of his companions kidnapped a businessman. They took him to a flat in Defense Colony area.
Here Vikas told him that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi had given him a contract to kill him. They beat him up and took away his gold chain, ring and cash. After this they left him on the road and ran away. Vikas threatened the businessman that it would not go well if he filed a police complaint.
