Keeping in view the serious condition of air pollution, a lockdown has been started in Lahore located in the Punjab province of Pakistan. Schools have been closed here. Not only this, the Pak Punjab government will write to the Pakistan government on Monday, so that pressure can be put on India using diplomatic channels. Maryam Aurangzeb said that today the Air Quality Index (AQI) of Lahore has crossed 1000 and the wind direction is currently from Amritsar-Chandigarh towards Lahore. He said that the speed of easterly winds coming from India is fast, due to which the level of pollution in Lahore is increasing. Its AQI has again reached 1173. AQI also approaches 500 if the wind direction is from Pakistan to India.
Maryam Aurangzeb said that this pollution started from Delhi engulfed the atmosphere of Lahore and the air quality level of Lahore remained negative 220 days out of 365 of the year. The wind direction is likely to remain towards Lahore for the next one week, due to which the pollution may increase further.
