Opposition to move no-confidence motion against Dhankhad in Rajya Sabha: 70 MPs sign motion; Digvijay said – never seen such a biased chairman

Even on the 10th day of the winter session of Parliament, there was a huge uproar over the Adani issue. Meanwhile, the opposition is preparing to move a no-confidence motion against Rajya Sabha Speaker Jagdeep Dhankhar. 70 opposition MPs have asked to sign the motion. However, the signature of only 50 members is required to remove the chairman.

Sources in news agency PTI said that the opposition forces had collected the necessary signatures in August itself, but they decided to give Dhankhard a second chance. Now the opposition says that Dhankhad works impartially in the House.

Congress MP Digvijay Singh said outside the Parliament – I have never seen such a biased speaker in my entire political life.

The rules under which the issues were rejected. They are stopping us from speaking on it, but allowing ruling party MPs to speak.

I allege that today he has run the House in a very partisan manner. Everyone knows that the Modi government is making such efforts to save Adani and divert issues.

The Congress MP said- I have never seen such a partisan chairman in my entire political life.

Pramod Tiwari said- Central government is saving Adani Congress MP Pramod Tiwari said, I am accusing the central government of weakening the house. I have not seen till date that all the people in the government do not stand up during the question period and let the answers come. My question was asked, but I was not allowed to ask the question.

Pramod Tiwari further said;-

The BJP government is an equal partner in Adani's money and corruption. She doesn't want Adani's name to come up, so she doesn't let the House work.

BJP raised the issue of Congress's foreign funding in the House During the zero hour, the BJP MPs demanded a discussion on the issue of foreign funds coming to the Congress. Rajya Sabha leader J.P. Nadda raised questions about the relationship between the Forum of Democratic Leaders in Asia-Pacific (FDL-AP) organization and George Soros. He claimed that the forum wanted to separate Jammu and Kashmir from India and received financial support from the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation.

Congress says that BJP wants to divert attention from Adani case. That is why Congress is being accused of foreign funding. Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress leaders accused Dhankhad of favoring the BJP.

TMC-SP also signed the no-confidence motion The SP and TMC, which are part of the India bloc, have also signed the no-confidence motion. However, both parties did not participate in the India Block demonstration for the past few days. SP and TMC say that the Adani issue should be discussed in the House, but the Congress is adamant on the Adani issue.

Understand the process of removal of Deputy Chairman in 3 points…

1. What is the procedure for removing the Vice President? The Vice President is the ex-officio Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. To remove him, a resolution has to be passed by majority in the Rajya Sabha. Notice must also be given 14 days before bringing the proposal.

2. The proposal must be passed in the Lok Sabha: It will be necessary to pass the proposal in the Lok Sabha as well, as the Speaker of the Rajya Sabha has the ex officio role of the Vice President. NDA has 293 members and Lok Sabha in India has 236 members. The majority is at 272. Even if the opposition convinces the other 14 members, it will be difficult to pass the proposal.

3. Whether the Chairperson shall be in the chair during the proceedings: As per the general judicial principle, the Speaker shall not sit on the Rajya Sabha Bench when a motion is presented and debated.
