NC alone has the support of 48 MLAs. 4 of the 7 independent MLAs who won the election declared their support for the NC on 10 October. These four independents are Pyarelal Sharma from Inderwal, Satish Sharma from Chamb, Mohammad Akram from Surankot and Dr. from Bani seat. Rameshwar Singh.
After this Omar said – now our number has increased to 46. A day later, on 11 October, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also supported the NC. Mehraj Malik is the only MLA of the party elected from Doda seat.
Later, Muzaffar Iqbal Khan, an independent MLA from Thannamandi, also supported the NC. Thus, NC does not need the Congress to form the government, but under the pre-poll coalition, the Congress will also be part of the government.
Omar may vacate the Budgam seat, contested from two seats Omar Abdullah contested from two seats Ganderbal and Budgam. They live on both. It is believed that they may retain the Ganderbal seat. When Omar became CM for the first time in 2009, he won the election from this seat. His grandfather Sheikh Abdullah won from here in 1977 and father Farooq Abdullah in 1983, 1987 and 1996.
Actually Omar lost the election from Baramulla Lok Sabha seat. Independent candidate and engineer Rashid, who was lodged in Tihar Jail at the time, lost the election by nearly 2 lakh votes. For this reason, Umar contested the assembly elections from two seats. Both seats have been strongholds of the National Conference.
President's rule was abolished on 13 October after 7 years An order to lift President's rule from the state was announced late on October 13 before the formation of the new government. The Home Ministry said that President Draupadi Murmu had issued an order to end President's Rule before the swearing-in of the new Chief Minister.
The last assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir was held 10 years ago in 2014. After the elections, BJP-PDP formed a coalition government. In 2018, the government fell after the BJP withdrew support and Mehbooba Mufti resigned as CM.
After this, Governor's rule remained in the state for 6 months, after which President's rule was imposed. Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha elections were held in 2019, with the BJP returning to the center with a huge majority. Following this, on August 5, 2019, the BJP government abrogated Article 370, which granted special status to the state.
Also divided the state into two Union Territories (Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh). After this there was President's rule in the state for about 6 years and now assembly elections have been held. In the 2024 assembly elections, the National Conference (NC) won 42 seats, its ally Congress won 6 seats and the CPI(M) won one seat.
The notification to lift President's rule was issued late on October 13.
Rajya Sabha elections are to be held after the formation of the government After the removal of President's rule and the formation of the government, elections are also scheduled for four Rajya Sabha seats in the state. Discussions for this have already intensified. According to the seats won in the elections, two Rajya Sabha seats can go to the NC-Congress alliance and one to the BJP. NC president Farooq Abdullah may be sent to Rajya Sabha. Due to ill health, he refused to contest the assembly elections.
An election can be held on the remaining one seat. Who will get this seat in the election will be decided by the political equations of that time. Similar was the situation in 2015. The then ruling PDP-BJP got one seat each. The NCA then supported the Congress candidate (now leader of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party) Ghulam Nabi Azad. The fourth seat came to the account of the PDP-BJP alliance after the election.
