Non-Assamese Muslims threatened to leave Assam: 30 organizations give 4-day ultimatum; CM Himanta said – Let the state not become a mine land

After the Nagaon rape case, there have been more than five incidents of sexual exploitation and molestation of girls and women at different places in Upper Assam in the last four days. In which a Mian (non-Assamese Muslim) or a Hindi speaking outsider was revealed to be the accused. Local people have made it an issue of identity. In 10 districts of Upper Assam, 30 organizations have taken to the streets against Hindi-speaking outsiders, including Mians and Marwaris. They are going door to door knocking and threatening the Mians to leave Assam by Saturday. This campaign of Veer Lachit Sena has been supported by 29 organisations, including local Muslim organisations, Upper Assam Muslim Welfare Council, Assam Combined Muslim Council. Assam CM Himanta Sarma has also said that I will not let the state become Mian Bhoomi. Assam Police's Operation Bond, eyes on tension-mongers Police in all 10 districts, including Shivsagar, have started identifying communal tension-mongers. An operation bond has been initiated against him, with a notice being issued under Section 164 (1) of the Indian Judicial Code. Representatives of 27 organizations including Bir Lachit Sena, Rashtriya Sangathan Sena, All Assam Scheduled Caste Students Association, Tai Ahom Chartra have received the notice. Muslim MLA banned from Shivsagar 30 caste organizations have also banned Muslim Congress MLA Abdul Rashid Mandal from entering Shivsagar district. After the CM's statement, organizations came out on the streets. In which the CM said that in the areas where the vote share of the Congress has increased in Assam, a special community has got so much courage that they are trying to establish their dominance. Atrocities on Hindu women are the result. Protest by several communities against the apology of the entire Marwari community On August 20, two Marwari youths were arrested in Shivsagar on charges of molestation. The locals consider them outsiders, so the entire Marwari community kneels down and apologizes, but the rest of the outsiders resent this. He says that apologizing to the entire society for the act of two youths is wrong. What is the controversy about Mian in Assam? In Assam, the term 'mian' is frequently used for Muslims of Bengali origin. He originally came from Bangladesh. The Chief Minister of Assam often describes the Mian community as communal. In an event ahead of the Assam assembly elections in 2021, Sarma had said that the Mian community is trying to spoil the Assamese culture. Sarma also called him an outsider.
