Baba Siddiqui, leader of NCP Ajit Pawar group and former minister of Maharashtra government, has been killed in Mumbai. Attackers fired 3 rounds outside his son's office near Kherwadi Signal in Bandra. Baba was hit by 2 to 3 bullets in his stomach. He was then immediately admitted to Lilavati Hospital, but he succumbed.
According to the information, Baba Siddiqui left the office at around 9.15 pm. He was bursting crackers near his office when the firing took place. Just then, three people came out of a car. All three had handkerchiefs tied over their mouths. He fired three rounds at Baba Siddiqui.
An associate of Baba Siddiqui was shot in the leg. After this another bullet hit Siddiqui. Baba Siddiqui fell due to the bullet. People immediately took him to Lilavati Hospital. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot. There is also news that the police have detained two people.

Siddiqui was in-charge of Raipur Lok Sabha
Congress recently made Baba Siddiqui the in-charge of Raipur Lok Sabha constituency in Chhattisgarh for Lok Sabha Election 2024. After Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra, he was likely to visit Raipur Lok Sabha constituency. A meeting was to be held here regarding the election preparations, but Siddiqui had already resigned from the party.
Siddiqui was associated with the Congress right from his student days. Baba Siddiqui's full name is Baba Ziauddin Siddiqui. He joined the Congress Party in 1977 during his student days. Baba studied from MMK College, Mumbai. After joining the Congress Party, Baba was elected twice as a councilor of the BMC Municipal Corporation in 1992 and 1997.
After this, Baba was an MLA from Bandra West assembly constituency three times in 1999, 2004 and 2009. His son Zeeshan Siddiqui is currently a Congress MLA from the Bandra East constituency and is also a leader of the Mumbai Youth Congress.
