Aam Aadmi Party has registered victory for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir. Mehraj Malik defeated Gajay Singh Rana of BJP by more than 4500 votes from Doda seat. While the People's Conference won one seat. Independents won 7 seats. Ejaz Guru, brother of Parliament attack accused Afzal Guru, got 129 votes from Sopore seat.

The National Conference has won 42 seats. In which more than 35 seats have been obtained from Kashmir region. The National Conference contested the elections on 56 seats this time. BJP: Retains dominance in Jammu, wins nearly 70% of seats

PDP: Big leaders lost, loss of friendship with BJP
Former CM Mehbooba Mufti's party PDP is the biggest loser this time. Compared to 2014, it has lost 25 seats. Mehbooba Mufti's daughter Iltija Mufti lost the election from Bijbehra seat. This is another big blow for the Mufti family after Mehbooba's defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. Experts attribute the PDP's defeat to the old alliance with the BJP.
