West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed displeasure over the poor performance of the INDIA bloc in the Haryana-Maharashtra and by-elections. He said in an interview, 'I formed INDIA alliance. Those who lead it can't run it properly, so give me a chance. I am ready to lead the coalition from Bengal itself.
Mamata Banerjee's statement has been supported by Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut and Samajwadi Party (SP). “We also want him to be a key partner of the opposition INDIA coalition,” Raut said on Saturday. Be it Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal or Shiv Sena, we are all together. We will soon go to Kolkata to talk to Mamata Banerjee.
At the same time, SP leader Udayveer Singh also supported Mamata Banerjee's statement. He said on Saturday, 'SP has won 37 out of 80 seats in UP in the Lok Sabha elections. TMC has got 29 out of 42 seats in West Bengal. BJP has lost 35 seats in these two states. SP will support Mamata if all parties agree.
On Mamata's statement regarding the leadership in the INDIA alliance, the BJP said – the opposition leaders do not have faith in the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. They still consider Rahul as a raw player in politics. There are many in the opposition who consider Rahul a political failure.
Mamata said- the party will decide who will be the successor
Mamata was asked about her successor in the party. In response to this he said- TMC is a disciplined party. Here no leader can set his own terms. The party will decide what is good for the people. We have MLAs, MPs, booth workers, who will decide who will take over the party after me.
TMC has long been witnessing a rift between leaders close to Mamata Banerjee and those close to her nephew Abhishek Banerjee. Regarding this, Mamata said- everyone is important for the party. Today's fresh face will be tomorrow's veteran.
Mamata said- Elections are not won by politicians
On the question of taking the help of election strategist Prashant Kishor, Mamata said- some strategists conduct surveys sitting at home and later change the survey. They can plan, organize things, but cannot bring the voters to the booth.
Only booth workers know villages and people, these are the people who win elections. Election strategists are just actors, who do their work for money, but elections cannot be won by them.

India won 234 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, including 99 seats for the Congress, 29 seats for the Trinamool Congress and 37 seats for the Samajwadi Party. The majority figure is 272 and INDIA Bloc was led by Congress in Maharashtra elections. Mahavikas Aghadi got only 45 seats out of 288.
