The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain warning in 18 states on Friday (September 6). A landslide occurred this morning on the Badrinath Highway in Chamoli, Uttarakhand. Long queues of vehicles are seen on both sides. The 13-year record of rainfall in Rajasthan has been broken. This monsoon season, from 1 June to 5 September, has received an average of 607.5 mm of rainfall, compared to 435.6 mm for the entire season. From 2011 to 2023 there has never been 600 mm of rain. Many dams in Rajasthan have overflowed. The gates of Bisalpur Dam will be opened today. Since 2004, Bisalpur Dam gates have been opened only 6 times (2004, 2006, 2014, 2016, 2019, 2020). Madhya Pradesh has received 904.9 mm rainfall from June 1 to September 5. This is 10% more than the annual monsoon average.
