West Bengal's Sealdah court has framed charges against Sanjay Roy, the main accused in the rape-murder case of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar College. The hearing of this case will be held from November 11.
On Monday, when Sanjay was led out by the police after his appearance, he was first seen on camera saying that Mamata Sarkar was framing him. He has been threatened not to open his mouth.
A trainee doctor was raped and murdered at RG Kar Hospital on the night of August 8. The victim's body was found on August 9. Doctors protested against this incident for 42 days.
The CBI named the accused in the charge sheet The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has named Sanjay Roy as the main accused in its charge sheet. Apart from this, this case has been called a case of rape instead of gang-rape. The chargesheet also said that the semen sample and blood recovered from the victim's body matched that of the accused. After forensic investigation, the short hair found at the crime scene also matched the hair of the accused.
CBI's charge sheet includes statements of 100 witnesses, 12 polygraph test reports, CCTV footage, forensic report, mobile call details and location. Apart from this, on the day of the incident, the accused's earphones and mobiles were connected through Bluetooth. This has also been considered as important evidence in the charge sheet.
The accused Sanjay was a civic volunteer. The police arrested him on August 10. The picture is from the same day.
The matter reached the Supreme Court It is to be noted that the Supreme Court has directed to increase the security of the doctors acting in this case and to create better conditions at the workplace. The Calcutta High Court handed over the investigation of the case from the Calcutta Police to the CBI.
The CBI has identified Sanjay Roy as the sole accused in the case. However, former principal Sandeep Ghosh has also been arrested for his involvement in the case.
