Kerala IAS officer creates Hindu-Muslim group on WhatsApp: Investigation finds phone hacked claim false, state govt suspends

The Kerala government suspended two senior IAS officers on November 11. He is accused of non-compliance with service rules and violation of discipline. An officer's name K. N. of Gopalakrishnan and others. It is peaceful.

Gopalakrishnan is accused of creating two WhatsApp groups on October 30 and was their administrator. Hindu officers were added to a group called Mallu Hindu Officers and Muslim officers were added to Mallu Muslim Officers group. Many senior officers were added to both groups.

It was the officers included in these groups who complained against Gopalakrishnan to senior officials in this regard. When the matter came to light, Gopalakrishnan lodged a complaint at the police station that his phone was hacked and a religious WhatsApp group was created.

During the investigation of the case, the police found that Gopalakrishnan did a factory reset several times before jamming his phone for investigation, which resulted in the deletion of mobile data. In such a situation, the claim of phone hack turned out to be false.

K. Gopalakrishnan is a 2013 batch IAS officer. Before clearing the IAS exam, he obtained a B.Tech degree. Apart from this, he has also done Post Graduation in Financial Management. He has held many positions in Kerala. He became the Collector of Thiruvananthapuram in 2019. Gopalakrishnan has also been Assistant Secretary in the Department of Communication and Information Technology in the Central Government.

CM suspended on Chief Secretary's report

  • CM Pinarayi Vijayan signed the suspension order based on the report presented by the Chief Secretary. In the investigation report, K. Gopalakrishnan was convicted of creating a religious WhatsApp group and distributing it among officials.
  • Apart from this, Special Secretary of Agriculture Department N. Prashant has also been suspended by the CM. Action has been taken against Prashant for criticizing his senior IAS officer on social media.
  • N. Prashant, posted on Facebook against A. Jayathilak, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department. He accused Jayatilak of spreading baseless news against him in the media. Prashant is also known as Collector Bro in Kerala.

N. Prashant is a 2007 batch IAS officer. In 2015, he became IAS of Kozhikode district. During this time he started an initiative to connect with people through social media. It was from here that Prashant got the name Collector Bro.

He once appealed to people through his social media to come together to clean the 14-acre lake. The IAS officer promised to feed biryani to the participants of the campaign, which he fulfilled.

He has more than 3 lakh followers on Facebook and more than 50 thousand followers on Instagram. Prashant is very active on social media. He took to social media to call his senior a psychopath and said he was spreading baseless news against him.
